From shiny green apples to yellow squash to red radishes, all of the richest fall colors are on display right now at your local farmer's market. If you haven't checked out what your city has on offer lately, I urge you to make the trip this weekend.

Perhaps I am the teensiest bit biased, but I'm pretty sure the Dupont Circle Farmer's Market is one of the best in the country in terms of availability of produce, local vendors, and sheer variety of items on offer throughout the year. One of my favorite stands is Cibola Farms for sustainably raised meats, but there are also several dairy stands with fresh yogurt and cheeses, bakery fresh breads, organic and local produce, one stand that sells only mushrooms, and even local seafood.

Just between you and me, I suspect the traffic at one particular organic produce stand has gone up considerably since our friend Nikola started manning the cash register...just one more reason to stop by your local farmer's market and say hello to your neighbors, hmm?

Tune in this weekend to see how to get today's look fairly, and check out this post for more Farmer's Market fun.

  1. Love this post and the very last photo! Me thinks you need your own farmer's market bag, though...
