Your Fair Vanity {A Sustainable Style Round-up}

Your fair style august 2013 3

I'm pleased to share with you the second installment of my new monthly series: Your Fair Vanity: An Eco-Friendly Style Round-up.

In this series, I share examples of how stylin' ladies from around the interwebs have incorporated eco-friendly, sustainable elements into their outfits while maintaining on-trend, impeccable style. This month, I've put together several transition looks to help us all get inspired for fall.

First up we have Elena from Classy and Fabulous wearing white J Brand Jeans (on sale now!), one of my favorite made in the USA brands. With her is Alicia from River City Chic showing off her long legs in a pair of shorts she scored at a consignment shop. I love the bright color and the laid-back way she's styled them.

Next we have Heidi from Jax and Jewels in a variety of eco-friendly elements: both her dress (Shoshanna) and her clutch (Gigee Marie) are made in the USA.  With her is Alden from Ecocult, wearing a bag made of upcycled leather by The Sway.

Tammy from a A Loyal Love rounds out the bunch wearing a kicky, made in the USA circle skirt from American Apparel, and Lauren (Lo) from Fashionably Lo is looking sharp in a fair trade, handmade bracelet by Mae Movement.

***If you'd like to be included in next month's round-up, leave a comment on this post or email me with a link to the post you'd like featured and which element(s) of your outfit are eco-friendly by September 18. ***

Your Fair Vanity {An Eco-friendly Style Round-up}

your fair style, July 2013, sustainable style, blog, rachel mlinarchik

Hello, my fair friends! Today I'm introducing a new monthly section to highlight Your Fair Style. One reason I started this blog was to show that it's possible to be stylish and kind to the earth. As a continuation of that effort, I'm eager to share examples from around the interwebs of how other bloggers have done that by incorporating fair elements into their wardrobes.

I believe we can all dress fairly without too much effort and certainly without spending a lot of money, and hopefully the stylin' ladies above will inspire you to take stock of the fair items in your closet!

  1. Our first fair style inspo is Krystin from Be Loud Be You, who's wearing a DIY tulle skirt that she made herself! To understand how awesome this girl is, you should also check out this post, which has EVEN MORE AMAZING DIY TULLE!
  2. Cynthia from Simply Cyn aka Addicted2Etsy is wearing one of her many vintage Coach purses, and it gives the perfect pop of red to her breezy nautical look.
  3. On the bottom left, Carlis from Spicy Candy DC is wearing a thrifted white blouse and thrifted sunglasses. Carlis and Katya have much love and respect for the art of thrifting, and I love to see what they find and how they style it.
  4. E from District of Chic is on the bottom right wearing a delicate, white vintage dress that fits her like a dream.

****If you'd like to be included in  the next installation of Your Fair Style, leave a comment with a link to your post, and be sure to say what part of your outfit is eco-friendly or fair. You can also shoot me an email. ***

I look forward to seeing your fair style!

P.S. I also look forward to seeing you at SOHO DC Wednesday night :)

Tag it #myfairvanity

tag your look my fair vanity on twitter or instagram for shoutout

I've featured your fair styles a few times here on My Fair Vanity and I'm always bowled over by your fair, kind, rockin' ensembles, so I've decided to make it a regular feature.

Anytime you're wearing something fair, e.g.:
  • made in the USA
  • vintage
  • organic
  • second-hand
  • fair trade
  • upcycled or recycled
Snap a picture, tag it #myfairvanity on Twitter or Instagram, and mention which item of your ensemble is fair.

At the beginning of each month, I'll share your pix in a post and show some link love to your social media account or blog.  And (obvi) I will be retweeting and reposting your awesomeness.

Above, for example, you are seeing the fair stylings of Waverly of Pich and Roor, the Amour Vert girls, Mode Marteau, Aaryn West, and Emily of Capital Style! Waverly is wearing a thrifted top and skirt; the Amour Vert girls' dresses are made in the USA; Aaryn is rockin some vintage pieces; Mode Marteau's skirt is second-hand; and Emily is wearing a thrifted sweater and trousers.

Here's my theory: I'd bet each one of you wears something fair and kind almost every day without even realizing it. Sharing a picture of your fair item and/or how your wore it will highlight for your friends and followers how easy it is to be fair, kind and fab.

So tag those photos #myfairvanity and give yourself a pat on the back for your eco act of kindness. Then look for yourself here on My Fair Vanity at the beginning of each month!
