Last weekend, I threw on a second-hand sweater and heels with my new jeans from Paige Denim, which, by the way, I LOVE. They're made in the USA, super stretchy, on sale, and super comfy with a perfect fit. Huge win.

One of the easiest ways to build a sustainable, timeless wardrobe is to be comfortable with monochromatic dressing. Wearing one color is also the easiest way to look "pulled-together" with very little thought or effort when you're in a rush. Whether you choose black, grey, camel, etc., you will look neat and polished with very little accessorizing, and you can throw in a contrasting shoe for more visual interest.

Special tip: stand around near a contrasting monochromatic building, such as NW DC's Masonic Temple, for added effect. ;)

Primary Colors {Easy and Eco-friendly Weekend Wear}

As you've seen here and here, oversize sweaters and rolled up jeans have have become one of my favorite uniforms to fall back on this season (if you'll excuse the pun), and today I'm using them to do a little color-blocking.

The colors I'm wearing also signify a red letter day: today (Sunday) is the last day you can enter to win your own red bag like the one I'm wearing. If you aren't the lucky winner, you could also buy one to have as your very own over at Modavanti, and take 15% off of your purchases through November 30 with special code MYFAIRVANITY

And, I'm pleased to report that today, I'm wearing a 100% sustainable ensemble:

Easy Weekend Style {Rag and Bone}

2 rag and bone plush legging jeans, made in the usa, sustainable street style

I recently discovered the softest and thus most wonderful jeans I've ever worn. Technically, they're called leggings, as in Rag and Bone's The Plush Legging Jeans, so I'm a little concerned that I might be wearing jeggings, but if I am, ya know what? Totally worth it.

Rag and Bone jeans are made in the USA and although this color seems to be sold out,  they are still available in dark brown/moss and in black from Shopbop and Nordstrom if you're interested. They're a nice length that tucks easily into low boots with no gap of skin, but can also be rolled up without too much bulk because the material is so thin.

Wearing: Rag and Bone jeans, consigned cashmere sweater from Secondi (similar here made from upcycled cashmere, AGL oxfords.

Summer Maxi Dress: Day to Night

In the middle of a DC summer heat wave, I want my clothes to be easy and breezy, so maxi dresses are a got-to option for me. I picked up this cobalt beauty from Secondi last summer, and I'm so glad I did.

It's 100% cotton with lots of stretch in the bodice, so it keeps me cool even during the day. I wore it last fall on a wine tasting jaunt with my mother with a straw bag and flat sandals, which gave the dress a hippie-chic feel. But the addition of strappy heels and a skinny belt changes the whole look of it, don't you think? I finished my evening transformation with a faux leather envelope clutch and a swipe of my favorite lipstick. Boom. My lazy, comfy day dress was ready for date night.

Re-imagining and re-styling your clothes is one of the best ways to stay eco-friendly and shop your own closet. The next time you feel like you have nothing to wear, take another look at your favorite maxi dress and see if it could work as evening wear.

If you have other ways of styling your daytime dresses for evening, please do share in the comments section-- I'd love to see how you do it!
