Shop My Secondhand Look for 20% off at the Real Real with code GETAWAY

I recently posted about how I'm transitioning summer shift dresses for fall, and since my entire outfit was secondhand from local retailer Secondi, I put together a way that anyone can get the look, regardless of whether they happen to live near northwest DC. I give you, The RealReal.

The RealReal is a nifty little online consignment space I've recently discovered, and they just so happen to be having a Columbus Day 20% off promo with code GETAWAY, so now is a great time to check them out. But I literally mean now because the promotion ends this evening-- sorry!

You can shop the items above and below by clicking on them, btw. There are ankle boots and a dress from Rag and Bone and a leather moto jacket by JBrand that I think is the jam.

Ebay Outfit Round-up: Skinny Jeans, Ankle Boots, Fisherman Sweater

ebay round up 2

Yesterday, I promised you a little Ebay round-up, and I'm happy to report I've got some sweet finds for you in a variety of sizes.  From pre-owned Lanvin and Marni ankle boots to an assortment of Rag and Bone jeans, there are shoes and skinny jeans for all at way below retail and even sale prices in some cases. You can click on the photo above or HERE to be taken to the full Ebay collection.

And what would jeggings and ankle boots be without a giant fisherman sweater? Hmm? They would be nothing. I've been obsessing a little bit about fisherman sweaters (which totally count in my New Year's Shopping Needs as a neutral sweater!), so I wanted to share some of my faves with you. Each one of these sweaters are either vintage or pre-owned, and most are made in Scotland or England of 100% wool. You can see the collection HERE or by clicking the photo, as above.

6 floral graphic dress spring my fair vanity rachel mlinarchik

Just wanted to share a few of my favorite looks from spring as I think about how to transition them to summer. For me, white jeans are a staple year round, and that floral dress is definitely going to get some use this summer. Click on the photos or the descriptions below them to see the full posts.

I wish you a happy almost Friday and a wonderful holiday weekend!

I'm headed to Charleston to soak up some much-needed sun and surf. If you'd like to follow my hopefully peaceful but possibly zany adventures, follow me on instagram at @MyFairVanity

Enamel bangles, Stella McCartney ankle boots and dress are all second-hand from Secondi

This dress is one of my favorite finds from Secondi, and I can’t wait to wear it more often now that the weather is ever-so-slowly warming up. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been obsessing over Aaryn West’s dreamy designs lately, but I’ve got graphic flower prints on the brain.

I also think it’s neat how different the dress can look with demure heels vs ankle boots. The heels are closer to the elegant, subtle style of my friend, photographer and stylist extraordinaire, Ms. Victoria Corkhill, whereas the boots come from the sci-fi, Star Trek, Battle-Star Galactica-loving side of me. Whenever I put on a flowy or flowery dress, I immediately want to add combat boots and a leather jacket.

What are you looking forward to wearing more of this spring?

And, while I'm being nosy, what are your plans this Thursday? I will be at Swap and the City, and I think you should be, too! Hosted by SNOBSWAP and Dewdrop LLC, proceeds from the event will benefit Becky's Fund, and all unswapped items will be donated to the Goodwill of Greater Washington.

This luxury clothing swap soireƩ is the perfect way to be kind to the earth and the people on it. Plus, designer swap items will be modeled down the runway by CapFABB bloggers, including yours truly. I have never actually "modeled down a runway," but I will give it my very best, and try very hard not to trip or walk the wrong way. ;)

Soooo...here comes the sun, right? RIGHT? Seriously, spring, where is the warm? I can't take much more. First you give me a winter plague and then you follow it with cold windy days?

I was hoping to post something springy for you guys but let's be honest, we're all still walking around in knit hats and scarves in April.

This was one of my go-to outfits this year, and I wore it most recently to a networking event hosted by the DC EcoWomen. It incorporates my favorite (vegan) Stella McCartney boots, my favorite clutch (gifted to me in Egypt), and my favorite bracelet from Secondi.

What warm and cozy faves are you still wearing?

After ogling the exquisite Mayan artifacts and jewelry in the Phillip Johnson Pavillion, Victoria and I walked through the rare book collection of the Dumbarton Oaks Museum, which was equally as beautiful and thus deserved its own post. If you haven't yet had the chance to pay a visit to Dumbarton Oaks, I can't stress enough that it's worth a (free!) visit.

I spent a perfect Sunday afternoon at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection last Sunday with my friend and photographer extraordinaire, Victoria. Founded by Robert Woods Bliss and Mildred Barns Bliss and now administered by Harvard University, the museum and libraries are housed in what I would certainly call one of Georgetown's hidden gems.

Filled with natural light, beautiful pre-Columbian artifacts and Mayan jewelry, Dumbarton Oaks is the ideal place to spend your next free weekend.

Tune in on Friday to see more of our visit.

Back to Black {and White}

J Crew Coat, vegan Stella McCartney boots, clutch, and enamel bangle are second-hand from Secondi; nude-colored cotton shirt is from Alternative Apparel. Photography is by Victoria Corkhill.

There was a lot of black, white and nude coming down the Spring 2013 runways from Jason Wu, Stella McCartney and The Row, and it inspired me to get back to the basics.

Black and white is so easy, and my spring resolution is to stock up on crisp white shirts and warm camel or nude pullovers. These are staples that will never go out of style and can adapt easily to the seasons as they change, while also creating a neutral palette for the bright lips and neon accessories that seems to be holding strong as trends.

I am more than ready for spring, so I had bust out the white jeans. What do you think about white jeans for winter?
