Just wanted to share a few of my favorite looks from spring as I think about how to transition them to summer. For me, white jeans are a staple year round, and that floral dress is definitely going to get some use this summer. Click on the photos or the descriptions below them to see the full posts.

I wish you a happy almost Friday and a wonderful holiday weekend!

I'm headed to Charleston to soak up some much-needed sun and surf. If you'd like to follow my hopefully peaceful but possibly zany adventures, follow me on instagram at @MyFairVanity

Anthom: Three Summer Staples

eco-friendly summer style picks from Anthom, blogger my fair vanity

If you haven't yet checked out Anthom, it's time.

Founded by a model (Ashley Turchin), a scientist, and a photographer/economist (Carla and Marshal of The President Wears Prada), Anthom is an online boutique featuring exclusive capsule collections, clothing and accessories by under-the-radar designers and independent labels from the USA and around the globe.

Their selections are definitely for a modern girl who's not afraid to stand out, but there are also clean, minimalist pieces that anyone can rock.
  • The brass cuff is made by hand by Christine Young, who creates all the pieces for her Young Frankk line in Richmond, Virginia. I want one for each wrist!
  • The pastel pink envelope bag is by CHIYOME: designed and manufactured in limited quantities in New York City using a selection of materials sourced primarily in America.
  • The cut-out tee is by DRIFTER, which is designed, sourced, and made in the USA. It's perfect for going from beach to pool to bar and back again, don't you think?

Swap in the City: Dewdrop, Snobswap and Anchyi Wei

By a series of very fortunate events, I found myself walking down a runway last week at Swap in the City. What's more, I found myself walking down a runway with tall, beautiful models. It was intimidating, exhilerating, and so fun!

Everyone there was a smizing expert. As you will see, I have not yet mastered smizing or model faces, but damn, these girls were blazing hot.

Our make up and hair was done by an incredibly talented team from the W Salon.

Krystin Hargrove of Be Loud Be You is the best smizer on earth! I'm not kidding-- check out her blog and she will melt you with her laser eyes. She is also one half of 8 Vintage, a fab online store featuring reconstructed vintage apparel by Krystin and her partner Denisio.

Krystin is wearing a consigned Alexander Wang dress (available right now on Snobswap!) and a necklace by Anchyi Wei Designs. I loved that Anchyi styled some ladies with a few pieces from her upcoming collection!

Super cheese. No smize. I'm wearing a Dolce and Gabanna skirt and Hervé Leger top from Snobswap.

This young lady was my favorite of the evening. She's wearing D'Milikah, but mostly, she is wearing her ethereal beauty. I was totally mesmerized.

The whole evening was put together by Dewdrop and Snobswap, with proceeds benefiting Becky's Fund, and each of these organizations deserves recognition:

Becky's Fund helps people understand the elements of domestic violence through education, encourages people to take an active role in helping battered victims find safety through counseling, education and legal representation, and provides support for victims of domestic violence.

Dewdrop is a producer of fashion events, specifically fashion-forward clothing swaps, where stylish locals gather to swap clothes, promoting sustainable living through fashion. Dewdrop also gives back to the community by teaming up with charitable organizations, and most of their  events come with pop-up shops, where DC’s local talent gets to showcase their uniquely handcrafted wares.

Snobswap is an online marketplace where users can buy, sell, swap and save on coveted luxury and designer clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories. It's fun, budget-friendly, and fabulously green.

I was honored to have taken part in such a lovely evening for a great cause. Big thanks to everyone at Snobswap, Dewdrop, 1776, the W Salon, and Becky's Fund for such a lovely evening!

I came across Nina Nolte on Because I'm Addicted, and I love love love the crisp colors and the tranquil feel of her paintings. Each scene is a perfect summer moment that I want to dive into, and each painting went so well with the mood of Robin Piccone's 2013 swimwear collection that I had to share. Ready for drinks by the pool?

Robin Piccone's swimsuits are made in the USA. You can purchase them at Nordstrom and many other online retailers.  :)

Enamel bangles, Stella McCartney ankle boots and dress are all second-hand from Secondi

This dress is one of my favorite finds from Secondi, and I can’t wait to wear it more often now that the weather is ever-so-slowly warming up. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been obsessing over Aaryn West’s dreamy designs lately, but I’ve got graphic flower prints on the brain.

I also think it’s neat how different the dress can look with demure heels vs ankle boots. The heels are closer to the elegant, subtle style of my friend, photographer and stylist extraordinaire, Ms. Victoria Corkhill, whereas the boots come from the sci-fi, Star Trek, Battle-Star Galactica-loving side of me. Whenever I put on a flowy or flowery dress, I immediately want to add combat boots and a leather jacket.

What are you looking forward to wearing more of this spring?

And, while I'm being nosy, what are your plans this Thursday? I will be at Swap and the City, and I think you should be, too! Hosted by SNOBSWAP and Dewdrop LLC, proceeds from the event will benefit Becky's Fund, and all unswapped items will be donated to the Goodwill of Greater Washington.

This luxury clothing swap soireé is the perfect way to be kind to the earth and the people on it. Plus, designer swap items will be modeled down the runway by CapFABB bloggers, including yours truly. I have never actually "modeled down a runway," but I will give it my very best, and try very hard not to trip or walk the wrong way. ;)

Candles are one of my favorite gifts to give and to receive, and you can't go wrong
with  Archipelago, which is made here in the USA. Archipelago also uses soy waxes, which
burn cleaner than traditional paraffin wax.

If you're going to buy her flowers, consider a potted one that she can re-plant. But if you must send fresh-cut flowers, please use Organic Bouquet

Gourmet chocolate bars and salted caramels should be given every day, but most certainly on Mother's Day. Theo chocolates are fair trade, organic, and the beans they use are grown sustainably, using methods that promote biodiversity and positively impact the lives of farmers.

This list is just a jumping off point. If you're reading this and it's too late to order anything online, get thee to Whole Foods for chocolates and organic bath salts, or pop in to your closest Anthroplogie for deliciously-scented, made in the USA candles. You could also check out your local antique shop for one-of-a-kind estate jewelry.
